It’s been seven long years, but Shipwrecked is finally back on our screens. So you can forget about Love Island (except not really) because the OG island-based, bikini-wearing reality show is back and we’ve got everything you need to know about it. From the start date to the line-up of islanders we’re so excited for this throwback show to return. The only question that remains is whether you’re Team Shark or Team Tiger?
What is Shipwrecked?
If you never watched the original series of Shipwrecked you seriously missed out; it ran for three series from 2000 – 2001 before making a comeback in 2006 with Shipwrecked: Battle Of The Islands. The final series Shipwrecked: Back To Basics aired in 2012 and it hasn’t been seen since.
In a nutshell, it’s a reality show where two opposing tribes – Sharks and Tigers – are put on two different paradise islands in the South Pacific, where they must survive as castaways; think a cross between Love Island and The Island with Bear Grylls (it’s a whole ‘island’ thing). It’s described as “the ultimate popularity contest” as each tribe must battle it out to recruit as many new people (and existing contestants) to become the largest tribe, and at the end, the biggest tribe will share the winnings of £50,000. Sounds like a piece of cake, right?
When does it start?
The new series starts much sooner than we thought, which is pretty exciting ‘cause there’s still very much a large Love Island-shaped hole in our lives. The new series starts on Monday 28 January, and we can’t wait!
Is there a trailer?
Yes! E4 have released a couple of teaser trailers for the new series which show that it will follow the Battle Of The Islands format. After watching these, we’re so ready to be taken back to the island.
How many episodes will there be?
Shipwrecked will have 15 episodes in this new series. So that’s our plans for the next few weeks sorted, then.
Who are the contestants?
E4 have finally revealed the full line-up of the nine castaway contestants, we’ve got all the details below:
Occupation: Recruitment manager
Occupation: Model/works in a Chinese takeaway part-time
