Hungover? Broken hearted? Seriously hungry? Burgers are the answer to all of these questions and now vegans can rejoice, because TGI Fridays have only gone and brought their plant-based patty from Beyond Burger to the UK. Yaaaas.
Stateside vegan company ‘Beyond Meat’ partnered with TGI Fridays back in September 2018 to serve its burgers at selected restaurants across Boston. After a successful launch, and huge demand from UK customers to bring it across the pond, TGI Fridays obliged and the vegan burger launched in the UK last Monday (7 January) priced at £10.99.
The patty is made of pea protein, beetroot and coconut oil, and has been described as ‘succulent’, ‘tasty’ and ‘delicious.’ Its official name is the ‘Moving Mountains Burger’ but it’s also been controversially coined the ‘bleeding’ burger because of the beetroot juice that oozes out when you eat…
TGI Fridays’ Head Chef, Terry McDowell said, “Fridays’ flame-grilled, hand-crafted burgers are one of the most popular dishes on our menu and now everyone can enjoy their legendary taste, whether they are vegan, vegetarian, trying to cut down on meat, or anything in between!
We launched our vegan burger in the States last year and have been inundated with messages asking if we planned to bring it to the UK. So, it is here by popular demand! We’ve put a lot of research and effort into ensuring we offer the best vegan burger in town, as well as one that comes with a 100% vegan bun.
With high protein, zero cholesterol – yet all the flavour of a real burger and with a succulent and satisfying meaty ‘bite’ – the question is, why wouldn’t you give it a go?”
We’re sold! It is Veganuary, after all…
