It was a hard job, but somebody had to do it. In the interests of upping our Nando’s ordering game, we tried every single dish on the core Nando’s menu (bar the salads – because, chicken! – and desserts).
There isn’t anything on the menu we particularly dislike, but this list helps to differentiate between the great dishes, and the blow-your-mind-amazing, must-order-every-time dishes. So what earned itself the number one spot on our list? Time to find out…
It’s not the most exciting side on the Nando’s menu, but, you’ll be surprised at how good this is.
It’s too easy to overlook these (we mean, chips) but if a pea does tickle your fancy, these are really good.
A decent balance of chicken and salad, if you’re all about that healthy life – and have the willpower of steel not to eat your entire body weight in chicken.
A fail-safe side that never disappoints – who doesn’t love corn on the cob?
Let’s face it, the only people who order a whole chicken to themselves are oversized rugby players, or people who are training for world eating championships – but if you can stomach this much chicken, it is glorious.
The teeny bottle of smoky PERi-PERi oil is what really makes this dish. We poured it over the creamy houmous and attacked it with strips of warm pitta. It was finished pretty quick.
Everyone loves garlic bread. This one is no exception.
The veggie burger is on par with the chicken burgers – expect tasty seasoning and a moist, ‘meaty’ (without the meat) burger.
A fancy veggie option for those with discerning meat-free tastebuds: the halloumi is everything.
Olives rank highly on our list for two reasons. 1) They are very big and juicy. 2) The garlic cloves are too good.
You can’t go wrong with a double chicken pitta. Plus, we tried Buzzfeed’s top tip: order a side of garlic bread, take one chicken breast out of the pitta and use the garlic bread as buns. Et voila: Two meals for the price of one.
You get a good amount of chicken (which, FYI, tastes amazing) and it’s excellent value for money.
Rice pimped with peppers and spice aka chicken’s best friend. Order any chicken with this and a corn on the cob and you won’t be disappointed.
We don’t know how the Nando’s gods managed to get their mash this creamy, but we want more of it.
The classic Nando’s order – ideal for newbies who don’t know where to start. Never tastes bad.
The avocado & buttermilk dressing really makes this side: grains and greens just got good.
No one has ever regretted ordering Nando’s coleslaw. No one. Eat it on the side, stick it in your burger – or if you’re feeling really cheeky, mix it with PERi-PERi sauce.
Not your average coleslaw: this comes with fresh spring greens, beetroot and carrot, mixed in with a lightly spiced, yoghurt dressing. Delish.
The chips are very good. So good, sometimes we like to forgo a second side in favour of double chips.
Comes with more salad than the chicken burger, and the lighter pitta makes you feel like you’re winning at living a healthy life.
Just the right amount of meat – it probably sits somewhere between a chicken burger and a double chicken burger. It’s succulent and very tasty.
Two chicken thighs, melted cheese, smoky red pepper chutney – it’s all amazing. Messy in a good way.
If you haven’t ordered the sweet potato sides at Nando’s, you MUST. The wedges are chargrilled in all the right places to make them extra sweet.
When you try the sweet potato mash you will say, ‘What is this sorcery?!’ Nando’s sweet potato mash is not like your average sweet potato mash. It’s sweeter, and you won’t want to stop eating it.
The perfect amount of chicken on the bone so you feel full up, but not bloated. Just add sauce.
Nando’s chicken on the bone is really good, but the chicken butterfly is proof that the chicken connoisseurs do next-level boneless chicken too.
Once you upgrade your chips to PERi-PERi chips – that’s chips with a sprinkling of PERi-PERi salt, you will never look back.
The wings are everything. Tender, succulent; falls off the bone. Just order 10 and be done with it.
Introducing the supreme holy grail of Nando’s foods: the chicken thighs. By far the most tender chicken, without the faff of bones and you get four. Very generous. Order with a side of PERi-PERi chips and sweet potato mash and you’ve found perfection.
Now you know what to order, here’s how to hack the Nando’s menu to mix it up and try something new.
