It’s official. Awards season 2019 has started. And the first awards show of the year, the Golden Globes, did not disappoint with a star studded red carpet and some of the best outfits we’ve seen for a while. So to celebrate some of the industry’s best talent (scrolling through Instagram judging the looks) we’ve picked out some of the best and worst dressed celebs on this year’s red carpet. Just call us Anna Wintour.

So to celebrate some of the industry’s best talent (scrolling through Instagram judging the looks) season we’ve picked out some of the best and worst dressed celebs on this year’s red carpet. Best dressed

Lady Gaga

Wearing: Valentino

Lady Gaga’s dress was the star of the night. It was enormous and blue and her hair matched it. We’re in love.

Billy Porter

Wearing: Randi Rahm

Billy Porter is giving us a serious lesson in making an entrance in this fabulous outfit, which apparently took six months to make. Time well spent, we say.

Regina King

Wearing: Alberta Ferretti

Regina is giving us sparkling rosé vibes in this incredible gown. We can only dream of wearing something so fabulous.

Sandra Oh

Wearing: Versace

We’re so obsessed with Sandra Oh and Killing Eve, so naturally we’re in love with this beautifully simple, elegant number.

Lili Reinhart

Wearing: Khyeli Couture

It’s a big, bold and brave dress that could’ve been a risky move, but naturally Lili pulled it off and looks ah-mazing.

Lupita Nyong’o

Wearing: Calvin Klein

Imagine the Boomerang you could get wearing all those moving beads! Lupita looks stunning in this elegant Calvin Klein number.

Gemma Chan

Wearing: Valentino

Yasss queen! The colour, the shape, the make-up – everything about this look is giving us life. Plus, it looked just as amazing from the front.

Emily Blunt

Wearing: Alexander McQueen

Emily Blunt proves doilies can be fashion too. She looked fantastic in this sleek lace number by Alexander McQueen.

Saoirse Ronan

Wearing: Gucci

Saoirse is giving us awards season glamour in its finest form in this chainmail Gucci gown. Paired with slicked back hair and a statement lip, she looks incredibly chic.

Irina Shayk

Wearing: Versace

Our jaws are on the floor. Irina looks stun-ning is this insane golden dress. We kind of wish she’d saved this for the Oscars, cause she literally looks like an Oscar, but we’re not mad.

Worst dressed

Amber Heard

Wearing: Monique Lhuillier

From the waist up Amber looks great – her hair and make-up look beautiful and the black sweetheart neckline is super chic. But that white skirt? Looks like she wrapped her bedsheets around her before leaving.

Kate Mara

Wearing: Miu Miu

Oh dear kate, everything about this dress is wrong. The weird harness/bodice doesn’t fit properly, the colour isn’t the best, the skirt is unflattering and the strange panel around the bottom reminds us of a nightgown. But at least Kate’s hair and make-up is on point.

Amy Adams

Wearing: Calvin Klein

One word: underwhelming. Amy obviously looks great but her dress is pretty lacklustre, and we think a double-nominee deserves to wear something more fabulous.

Julia Roberts

Wearing: Stella McCartney

Julia Roberts looks great in pretty much everything. Fact. But this ensemble just feels a bit confused; is it a dress or a two piece?

Lucy Liu

Wearing: Gahlia Lahav

Some elements of this dress are insanely gorgeous, like the colour and tulle fabric. But there’s just too much going on with the one shoulder, neon embroidery, cape and belt. Less is more.

Anne Hathaway

Wearing: Elie Saab

We’ll be the first to admit we love leopard print, but this dress was a step too far. The mix of leopard prints and metallic fabric was just too much.

Alison Brie

Forever date...💙

Wearing: Vera Wang

This look is giving us Disney princess vibes, but not in a good way. It’s just a bit meh, and the encrusted bra underneath looks out of place.

Heidi Klum

Wearing: Monique Lhuillier

Heidi is well known for her eccentric fashion choices but this dress just isn’t doing it for us. The simple black tulle ball gown would’ve been great on it’s own but the addition of the flowers just look messy.

Elsie Fisher

Wearing: Kenzo

We really respect the choice not to wear a traditional gown, but unfortunately we just don’t think the risk paid off.
