Cookie statement and other technologies

We use cookies and other technologies to help improve your experience in our Centres and on our website(s) and our app(s) (the “Site(s)”).

Cookies

A cookie may be used in the processing of your personal data.

A cookie is a text file placed into the memory of your computer by our computers, a copy of which is sent by your computer whenever it communicates with the Sites. We use cookies to identify you. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, which enables you to decide if you want to accept it or not. Please note, however, that some of the services and features offered through our Sites may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

We use several types of cookies on our Sites:

  • Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the Sites and use their features. Without these cookies, services you have asked for cannot be provided. They are deleted when you close the browser.

  • Performance cookies

These cookies collect information in an anonymous form about how visitors use our Sites. They allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and help us understand which pages are the most popular and where shoppers spend most of their time.

  • Functionality cookies

These cookies allow our Sites to remember choices you make, such as your name, the region you are in or the products you have viewed and compared. They are used to provide enhanced and more personal features.

  • Targeting or advertising cookies

These cookies allow us and our advertisers to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They remember that you have visited our Sites and may help us in compiling your profile.

  • Social Media cookies

These cookies allow you to connect with social media networks such as Instagram and YouTube.

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies and similar technologies, but if you prefer, you can change your browser to prevent that and your help screen or manual will tell you how to do this. However, you may not be able to take full advantage of our Sites if you do so.

A number of cookies and similar technologies we use last only for the duration of your web or App session and expire when you close your browser/or exit the App. Others are used to remember you when you return to the Sites and will last for longer. We assume that you are happy for us to place cookies on your device. However, if you, or another user of your device, wish to prevent the use of cookies at any time, you may do so by altering the settings on your device.

You can find more information about cookies at: www.allaboutcookies.org and http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/.

Internet Protocol (IP) Address

We may also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our Sites and to improve the service we offer to you. An IP address is a numeric code that identifies your computer on a network, or in this case, the internet. Your IP address might also be used to gather broad demographic information. We may perform IP lookups to determine which domain you are coming from (i.e. aol.com, yourcompany.com) to more accurately gauge our users’ demographics.

Information from these types of cookies and technologies or about your usage of the Sites may be combined with information about you from any other source.

Other technologies

We may use sensor technology in our Centres to help us understand more about, and improve, our visitors’ experiences.  The sensors capture signals automatically emitted from mobile devices but do not, in any way, attempt to store personal information from, or about, the device or its user. This information may be used by intu to help understand how shoppers use and move around the Centres, helping us improve the overall shopping experience. For more information about this technology, please email data.protection@intu.co.uk or write to the Data Protection Officer, intu properties plc, 40 Broadway, London, SW1H 0BT.
