1. Book in regular trims

Cutting split ends keeps hair looking healthy and prevents the breakages from working their way upwards; this will only require more inches cut off in the long run – and who has the time for that whilst in pursuit of princess locks?

2. Work from the bottom up when detangling wet hair

Damp hair is more brittle than dry hair and combing/brushing too much can cause more damage to those precious strands. To combat this, work the tangles out from the bottom up – and go gently! If the damage is already done, Grow Gorgeous new Repair Range – launching on 25 June – contains Keratrix™, Amino acids, Bamboo extract and more; the range is said to restore hair to its former strong, healthy self.

3, Swap out cotton pillowcases for silk

If we told you that tossing and turning whilst asleep does damage to your hair, you probably wouldn’t believe us – but the friction between hair and cotton pillow-cases does just that. Invest in silk or satin pillowcases which hair will glide off easily – reducing friction that will be detrimental to your tresses.

4. Hair serums

Hair-growth serums are all over instagram – and for good reason! Our favourite is Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum Intense; formulated to help you achieve visibly fuller, thicker and healthier hair, it’s perfect for those of us feeling our locks are thin, fine and deflated. With high concentrations of the most effective ingredients, this intense Growth Serum has been expertly formulated with an extra 3% concentration of caffeine to really advance the benefits. It’s said to give results in as little as four weeks – so the impatient among us can rest easy.

5. Hair supplements

Perhaps the easiest way to give your hair a boost, supplements are simple to take and super effective. Hairburst (which sell one pack every minute!) would be our hair supplement of choice – boasting a celebrity following including Made In Chelsea’s Louise Thompson and TOWIE’s Lydia Bright, they contain essential vitamins to maintain healthy, faster hair growth. Viviscal and Hairfinity are also great bets.

6. Opt for microfibre hair towels

We’ve rocked the towel-on-head paired-with-dressing-gown look many a time after a shower, but what we didn’t know is it is actually super damaging to the scalp! The heavy towel material adds weight and stress, cause more breakage; Instead, opt for lighter, microfiber hair towels and if you must wrap your hair up after a shower, do it for as little time as possible.

7. Give hair a break from the heat

We’re all guilty over over-styling, but excessive straightening, curling and blow-drying causes real damage to your locks. Once or twice a week (more if you can bear it!) try simply washing hair, spritzing with some salt spray (Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray is our fave)  and allowing it to air-dry. You may be a poker-straight tresses girl, but the boho look is so in right now and you might actually like it!

8. Hair masks are your friend

We moisturise our skin, so why should our hair be any different? Get into a deep conditioning routine every week using masks and oil treatments to add moisture and shine to your hair, whilst revitalising dry strands. ‘Grow Gorgeous Back into the Roots’ 10 minute leave-in miracle mask contains biotin, which is said to be like food for you hair; feeding good vitamins into your tresses will help keep them glossy and strong – and stronger hair equals longer hair!

9. Cayenne pepper

Mix this spicy pepper powder with coconut or olive oil and massage into scalp; the tingling sensation is thought to draw fresh blood to the hair follicles stimulating hair growth. Just be sure to give it a good old wash afterwards to get rid of the smell!

10. Wear a shower cap

Simply pop a shower-cap on before you sleep and wear overnight; the idea is that it’ll get hot in there, and this heat will increase your scalp’s production of sebum which encourages growth. We’ll be stocking up next time we’re staying at a hotel!

11. Use a sulfate-free shampoo

Ever looked at the ingredients on the back of your shampoo bottle? Us neither… but apparently we should be. Shampoo tends to contain sulfate which strips hair of its natural oils, causing it to go dry and brittle. Instead, opt for a sulfate-free version like Aveda Scalp Benefits Shampoo – this non-drying formula soothes and calms the scalp, cleansing and conditioning to form the perfect base for healthy hair. It contains quinoa protein, which penetrates the hair shaft, working from inside to help strengthen and repair strands.

12. The inversion method

This sounds like a weird one, but hear us out; this certified beauty blogger tip is said to really work! In order to stimulate blood circulation around hair follicles, massage oil (Argan oil works great for this) into your scalp – but do it with your head upside down; the blood will rush to your head, which stimulates blood circulation around hair follicles and increases hair growth. Do this every day for one week straight, per month, for best results!
