Without a doubt, the world is still obsessed with everything Meghan Markle. From her skincare routine to her choice of blusher, she doesn’t seem to put a foot wrong, and we’ve been dying to find out how she gets those brilliant brows. Step forward celebrity brow expert, Sherrille Riley, owner of Nails & Brows in Mayfair, London.
While Sherrille’s client list reads like a who’s who of the A-list – Meghan Markle, Ariana Grande and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to name a few – she’s not relying on that alone to make her mark, designing and launching an award-winning luxury brow collection.
We sat down with Sherrille to find out what her top brow tips are, why she started her own company and what in the heck the Audrey Brow is…
How did you become a brow technician?
I actually became a brow technician by accident; I was young, wanted to trial something new and so shaved my eyebrows off, whoops! I understood and valued from then on the importance of brows and how they can change and enhance your face. Now, I’ve worked in the beauty industry for over 20 years, working red carpets, flying around the world with VIP clients, and working alongside industry icons like celebrity hairdresser, George Northwood.
What is The Audrey brow? We hear Meghan Markle is a fan…
I created the Audrey brow in homage to Audrey Hepburn’s timeless beauty, and to mimic her thicker, straight and lifted signature brow. I loved the shape because it’s universally flattering, and knew I could modernise it slightly to suit today’s women.
Brow shapes of the early and mid-noughties were very exaggerated, with a high arch above the pupil, and it resulted in a surprised and almost angry look on most women; it wasn’t overly flattering. What I realised was if you shape the brow straighter, with less of an arch, and keep the tail end up, not curved down, you open up the whole eye and lift the cheekbone.
Where did Beauty Edit Mayfair come from?
Well I would be styling my clients brows and need finishing products to set the style, and I found there wasn’t many products available that were natural looking, so I decided to create my own in a range of shades that neutralise brassiness, redness and ashy undertones. I met with a cosmetic scientist and we worked together for 2 years formulating and creating the collection you see today! I love all the products, and I’m particularly proud of the Brow Filler, which has a non-waxy, highly pigmented formula that lasts up to 12 hours, and the Brow Setter, which helps distributes product, sets the brow shape and conditions with Castor Oil and Vitamins E and B5.
How do you make my brow grow faster? Asking for a friend…
Regular maintenance and care, basically! To stimulate and encourage growth I’d recommend regular massaging, 4 to 5 times a week, using Castor or your prefered face oil. Just massage the oil in small circles over your brows, using your ring finger.
