Nothing kills our summer holiday buzz quite like attempting to get all of our beauty essentials through airport security. It’s a painful process trying to decide which lotions and potions to take, and which ones to leave at home, when we only have a 100ml limit to work with.

And while we can pick up those travel size minis at the airport, it can cost us a small fortune. The good news? You can get all the travel size beauty products you need, for free. Yes, you read correctly: this is how to get free mini travel toiletries from your favourite brands (think Clinique, Estée Lauder, Benefit and more).

1. Bag free beauty samples from beauty counters

You’d be amazed at the amount of beauty freebies you can pick up from beauty counters. Brands such as Clinque, Estee Lauder and Benefit will often give you free samples of anything from creams to foundations and everything in between; and if you’re lucky they might pop some more free samples into your bag if you make a purchase. You can usually pick up these free samples by just popping along to your local counter, all you have to do is ask nicely.

2. Get free mini toiletries on social media

Social media is one of the easiest ways to bag yourself free goodies, especially if you’re already addicted and checking these sites daily.

Start ‘following’ and ‘liking’ your favourite brands across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as they announce flash giveaways exclusively on these pages, which will pop up in your feed with instructions on how to claim.

We’ve received lots of treats including a free Chanel mascara mini and Simple mini makeup wipes; perfect for hols. Finally, our Facebook obsession has paid off!

3. Sign up to email newsletters for free toiletries

Brands often announce when they are hosting giveaways via email and many offer a free incentive when you sign up to their email newsletter. Companies such as Chanel, Givenchy and  Estée Lauder are all known for rewarding their email base with lots of lovely free beauty minis.

Whenever you see ‘FREE’ in the subject header, act quick and click through to their website to claim freebies that get sent to your front door or collect in-store.

We’ve managed to score a 50ml Ultrasun Factor 50 sun cream and Aquafresh 30ml toothpaste this way. There are usually only a certain amount up for grabs on a first come, first served basis, so don’t miss out.

It’s also worth checking in on beauty offers at places like Debenhams and House of Fraser. They often list their beauty offers online, they include gifts with purchase, free samples and more.

4. Join beauty panels to get free beauty products & toiletries

Want to feel like a beauty VIP? BootsSoap & Glory and Elemis are just a few of the brands that offer freebies in exchange for your opinion when you join their secret beauty panel. Quite often, these are products that haven’t even hit the shelves yet.

5. Sign up to loyalty programs

Another favourite of ours is Debenhams Beauty Club where you can also collect points and redeem free products. Plus, they’ll reward you on your birthday with a free Benefit eyebrow wax!

6. Check out magazine freebies

OK, this one isn’t exactly free, but if you’re going to buy a cheeky airport mag, you might be swayed by the magazine freebie offerings inside. Magazines are working even harder than ever to grab your attention, so they offer free beauty minis in return for your purchase.

Recent offerings have included Benefit mascara, Burt’s Bees lip balm, and a Nails Inc nail polish – often found in luxury spas and nail bars. You can also find free stuff within the pages of magazines, too.
